Diet and weight management is the biggest health concern for moms, ahead of more traditional health conditions like cancer. The numbers back up why moms are so concerned. Obesity has been a growing issue in recent years but now Ireland has reached a critical stage.
More specifically, moms have many concerns when it comes to their child’s diet leading to specific ‘food fears’.
4 0% are worried there are not enough vegetables in their child’s diet.
3 5% are worried their child gets too many treats from visitors/relatives.
3 4% are worried there is not enough fish in their child’s diet.
3 4% are worried too much sugar in their diet.
3 3% are worried not drinking enough water.
There is always a news headline telling us what’s good to eat and what’s not. Given their influence over family diet, this advice is often directed at moms. But instead of helping, this advice can feel like blaming and generates further stress for already stressed moms. As a result, moms are constantly on the offensive; looking for new ways to keep their family healthy and solutions to enable them to do so.
Once again, technology plays a part in helping people keep informed and providing solutions.
