Nowadays the urban village is part of the inner city but is still very much its own community, characterised by red-brick artisan dwellings, with brightly-painted doors and colourful window boxes, and old-fashioned shops and pubs. While still home to many working-class Dubs who have lived here for generations, in recent years the area has been colonised by artists and young professionals who brought with them galleries and gourmet coffee. It is this mix of old and new that gives this corner of the city its unique character. This blog is about and for the people of Stoneybatter and around.
